It seems that the muscle car wars are back, and Dodge's entry in the arena for this year is the 2015 Dodge Challenger Coupe, which has arrived in many car dealerships in Indianapolis. It delivers in many aspects, from appearance to sheer horsepower, which no discussion on muscle cars can ever go without.
The Challenger has come a long way since its introduction into the muscle car scene way back in the 1970s, when competition was stiff. Since then, it has continually evolved and improved throughout the years and the 2015 model is no exception. This is to be expected, as the Challenger has become a legendary status symbol, even prominently featured on TV shows such as The Dukes of Hazzard.
The 2015 Challenger comes in four engine choices: 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, a 5.7-litre Hemi V8, a 6.4 Hemi V8 and a supercharged V8. The V8 is exceptionally strong, boasting a jaw-dropping 707 horsepower, which can get drivers from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just about 4 seconds. The transmission options are either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual. The manual is standard on all R/T models, and the eight-speed automatic on the V6 and the V8.
In terms of exterior, the model has a number of new additions. It has a split grille surround, which is heritage-inspired, projector headlamps with halo LED surrounds, projector fog lamps, and LED tail lamps that are heritage-inspired. Paint-wise, it has a selection of colors such as HEMI orange, Sublime Green, and Plum crazy, to name a few. It has nine wheel options, which includes the new lightweight 20 by 9-inch forged aluminum wheel with a hyper black II finish. On the inside, the interior features world-class materials and the 1971 Challenger inspires the design.
With all the power that the Challenger boasts, one will wonder about the handling. Fortunately, the handling is admirable and the ride quality is compliant and superbly stable. Those who are looking to get back behind the wheel of a muscle car should go to an Indianapolis Dodge dealer such as Fletcher Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM that has the 2015 Challenger in stock in R/T, SXT, and SXT Plus trim levels.
