2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Review

If you want the absolute best SUV on the roads of Franklin, New Whiteland or Greenwood, Jeep should probably be at the top of your list of manufacturers. Let's face it: this is a company with a legacy reaching all the way back to World War II, and is among the companies that established the entire sector to begin with.

Jeep has continued this legacy through the years, and there's no other manufacturer out there that offers the kind of performance you get from a Jeep sport utility vehicle. The biggest truck in the lineup is the Grand Cherokee and with a new model hitting showrooms soon, everyone wants to know what to expect. Explore the entire range of engine options, features, technology and performance you'll get from the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee and find out where to test drive one.

2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee

This year, the biggest addition to the already outstanding 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup is the inclusion of an available supercharged V8 engine putting out an incredible 707 horsepower. It's available in the Trackhawk performance-trim. The diesel engine, on the other hand, has been removed from the lineup, though it may make a return later this year. Finally, you now get a standard 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, with an optional 8.4-inch screen.

Grand Cherokee Trim Levels

This year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee comes in a whopping seven different trim levels, so if you're looking to customize an SUV, this is a great option. The base trim level is the Laredo, and it's followed by the Limited, off-road Trailhawk, Overland, the Summit, the SRT, and the Trackhawk trims.

The base trim offers you the aforementioned 7-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, which is already a solid base-entry feature. You also get heated mirrors, keyless entry and ignition, rear parking sensors, rearview camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, six speakers, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and two USB ports. It's an incredibly full-featured system.

Higher level trims offer a laundry list of features including just about everything you could ask for- from upgraded infotainment systems to outstanding on-road and off-road performance suspension, engine options, transmissions and trim levels.

Off-Road Performance

The Trailhawk is arguably the most popular trim level, and that's because people who think Jeep also think, off-roading. This level gives you class-leading performance off the pavement and on the trails. It includes low-range four-wheel drive in the Quadra-Drive II system, the Quadra-Lift adjustable air suspension, specialized tuning, hill descent and ascent controls, electronic limited-slip differentials, skid plates to protect the underbody, special styling, and exclusive off-road information and features in the updated instrument cluster.

You also, at this level, get the 8.4-inch touchscreen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, GPS navigation and nine speakers, as well as cooled front seats and power-fold mirrors.
