Jeep Wrangler vs Ford Bronco: Power & Performance
The Jeep Wrangler has long been an SUV regarded for its ability to put out incredible power. How does this power match up with the Ford Bronco? Let’s find out!
Looking under the hood of the Wrangler, it comes standard with a 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine that nets an impressive 285 horsepower. This is quite a step up from the Bronco’s standard 2.3L EcoBoost® engine and its 270 horsepower.
That’s not all, though! Wrangler drivers have the option to upgrade to one of these available engines:
- 2.0L Turbo with ESS
- 3.0L EcoDiesel V6
- 3.6L Pentastar® V6 with eTorque
The Bronco has one optional engine, a 2.7L EcoBoost®. While its 400 lb-ft of torque is impressive, it doesn’t compare to the 442 lb-ft of torque in Jeep’s available 3.0L EcoDiesel.
2021 Wrangler vs Bronco: Champion Capability
The ability to go the extra mile is an important characteristic in any SUV, and both the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco possess this valuable trait.
Drive effortlessly over rocks and other small debris thanks to a standard 9.7 inches of ground clearance on the Jeep Wrangler Sport. The Ford Bronco, on the other hand, only provides 8.4 inches of ground clearance on its standard 2-door model.
That’s not all, either. All Wrangler trim levels—including the Rubicon—proudly wear the Trail Rated® badge. This honor is only given to Jeep vehicles that pass a series of vigorous tests that prove their ability to withstand harsh conditions, tough terrain, and inclement weather. As such, the Rubicon is exceptionally adept within the categories of traction, water fording, articulation, and maneuverability.
Since the Trail Rated® badge is exclusive to Jeep, you won’t find it on any Ford Bronco trim.
Jeep Wrangler vs Ford Bronco: Comfortable & Connected Interior Amenities
Moving onto the interior of the Wrangler and Bronco, you’ll find an array of amenities to keep you comfortable and connected.
It starts up front, where both cars sport standard 6-way manual driver’s seats. Cloth trim can also be found throughout each brand’s standard model. Leather-trimmed seating is available throughout the two, as well. Speaking of seating, passengers in the Wrangler will enjoy spacious accommodations, including:
- Front headroom: 42.6 inches
- Rear headroom 41.7 inches
- Rear shoulder room: 57.7 inches
These specifications aren’t as impressive in the Bronco. Its 2-door model only features 41 inches of front headroom and 51.8 inches of rear shoulder room. Ford’s rear headroom, however, only measures 39.8 inches.
Now that we’ve covered comfort, let’s talk tech. Road trips are better with some good tunes, and it just so happens that the Wrangler offers some impressive standard audio. In fact, drivers can find a standard 8-speaker audio system inside the base trim level. Sadly, the base Bronco only supplies a 6-speaker sound system.
