2021 Jeep Cherokee: Three Powerful Engines
The engine might be one of the most important aspects of any vehicle. After all, you won’t be traveling very far without one. The Cherokee, however, goes beyond your basic engine to bring a trio of powerful options. These available engines are as follows:
- 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2
- 2.0L Turbo
- 3.2L Pentastar® V6
As you saw in the chart above, the 2.4L Tigershark® MultiAir® 2 is the 2021 Cherokee’s standard engine, although its numbers are anything but ordinary. This beast nets an impressive 180 horsepower, 171 lb-ft of torque, and 2,000 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped.
Next up is the 2.0L Turbo engine. This one provides a notable mix of torque and horsepower, delivering 295 lb-ft and 270 hp, respectively. The 2.0L also offers 4,000 pounds of maximum towing when properly equipped.
Finally, there’s the larger 3.2L Pentastar® V6 engine. Here, a combination of excellent towing, torque, and horsepower creates the ultimate in engine power—271 horsepower, 239 lb-ft of torque, and 4,500 pounds of maximum towing capacity when properly equipped, to be specific.
2021 Cherokee: Off-Roading Prowess
Going hand-in-hand with engine power is a multitude of off-roading abilities. This is thanks in part to Jeep’s Trail Rated® badge. This symbol is given to Cherokee models, which pass a series of rigorous tests in various off-road conditions.
As its namesake would suggest, the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is one trim that wears this badge. That means the Trailhawk is exceptional in the areas of water fording, traction, maneuverability, ground clearance, and articulation. Its water fording abilities, for example, stem from special water sealing and high air intakes, allowing the vehicle to drive through watery obstacles effortlessly.
That’s not all. Jeep also offers the optional Jeep Active Drive II 4X4 System. This system was designed for outdoor adventures, with locking front and rear driveshafts for added power, and 2-speed power transfer unit torque management.
Jeep Cherokee: Spacious & Comfortable Cabin
Now, it’s time to move onto the Cherokee’s interior and take a look at its spacious cabin.
The Cherokee can comfortably seat four passengers, as it sports some notable measurements:
- Headroom: 39.4 in./38.5 in.
- Legroom: 41.1 in./40.3 in.
- Hip room: 53.8 in./49.9 in.
- Shoulder room: 57.6 in./55.1 in.
These seats are more than roomy—they’re comfortable, too. Up front, the driver can relax atop available 8-way power directional control seating, while the front passenger enjoys 6-way power directional seating. Optional Nappa Leather trim in Sky Gray or Black adds a modern touch while providing the ultimate accommodations for longer drivers.
Speaking of which, no road trip is complete without some good tunes. Luckily, the 2021 Jeep Cherokee has you covered with its available Alpine® Premium Audio System with nine speakers and a 506-watt amplifier.
