This look into the 2021 Ram 2500 begins under the hood. That’s where you’ll find Ram’s standard 6.4L HEMI® V8 engine, capable of producing 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque.

This engine also packs a strong punch by encompassing a payload capacity of 4,010 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 17,540 pounds when properly equipped. That’s one tough cookie.

As impressive as this engine is, Ram does one better by also providing an optional 6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel I6 engine. This beast knocks it out of the park with 850 lb-ft of torque, 370 horsepower, 3,160 pounds of maximum payload, and a maximum towing capacity of 19,680 pounds when properly equipped.

The folks at Ram didn’t stop there. To balance out the roughness of these two engines, they’ve also included two accompanying transmissions. The first—and standard—is the 8HP75-LCV 8-speed automatic transmission, featuring on-the-fly shift mapping and fully electronic operation.
