Ram 2500 vs Ford F-250: Which Offers More Standard Towing?

Ram 2500 Towing Capcity

Towing is an important part of any truck, and an important factor to consider when shopping for your next heavy-duty vehicle. Which offers more towing—the Ram 2500 or the Ford F-250? Let’s find out!

In order to take a look at the towing capabilities for these two trucks, we first need to explore their engines. Starting with Ram, the 2500 comes equipped with a standard 6.4L V8 engine, complete with 410 horsepower. The Ford F-250, on the other hand, only includes a standard 6.2L V8 engine with a horsepower of just 385—quite a drop compared to the Ram standard engine.

As for towing, Ram takes the cake here, too. On this same standard 6.4L engine, the 2500 has a maximum towing of 15,040 pounds. This provides more than enough strength to haul large items like trailers and boats with ease.

Unfortunately, the Ford standard 6.2L engine can only provide 13,000 pounds of towing capability.

Ram 2500 vs Ford F-250: Smart Towing Features

While trucks are great for their ample towing capabilities—much like the specs above—it does make driving a bit more of an involved process.

Thankfully, both the Ram 2500 and the Ford F-250 provide a series of smart towing features to help keep you, your trailer, and your truck driving safely on the roads.

One standout feature is Ram’s available Digital Rearview Mirror with Tow Mode. It shows a live feed through said mirror provided from a trailer camera connected to the rear bumper. Similarly, Ford offers an optional Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System with Pro Trailer Backup Assist™.

Here’s another smart towing system found inside the Ram 2500 and the Ford F-250: Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring. Quickly receive live tire pressure readings for up to four trailers, digitally displayed on the Driver Digital Cluster Display on the dashboard.

Ram 2500 vs Ford F-250: Well-Equipped for the Road Ahead

Ram 2500 Technology

In today’s digital world, technology is everywhere we look. Now, thanks to the innovations of the Ram 2500, it’s also inside your truck.

The central information hub within the 2500 comes in the form of an available Uconnect® 5C system. Paired with an available 12-inch touchscreen, it comes with dual-phone connectivity, meaning both driver and passenger can hook up their smartphone for added convenience. You can also add up to five user profiles to suit the needs and preferences of different drivers, great for those who share a vehicle.

While the 2022 Ford F-250 also offers an optional 12-inch touchscreen with its own SYNC 4® infotainment system, it does not include dual-phone connectivity, nor does it mention any opportunities for programmable user profiles.

Another technological bonus of the Ram 2500 is its optional Active Noise Cancellation System. Along with the help of electronically controlled, frame-mounted mass modules, vibration and outside noise are minimized for a quieter driving experience. Ford does not offer any noise-cancellation functions.

2022 Ram 2500 vs Ford F-250: Which Truck Has a Larger Interior Cabin?

Longer drives are made more enjoyable and relaxing with a spacious interior cabin. Do you know which truck offers more interior passenger space? Well, you’re about to find out!

In the front row, Ram slightly outdoes Ford with 40.9 inches of headroom compared to the F-250’s 40.8 inches of headroom. The Ram 2500 displays more hip room too: Its 62.9 inches of front hip room outdoes Ford’s 62.5 inches of front hip room.

It’s in the second row where the differences in measurements really start to shine through. Folks sitting inside the Ford F-250 may feel a bit cramped with just 33.5 inches of rear legroom. Sitting inside the Ram 2500 will feel far from tight with 40.2 inches of rear legroom.

Apart from space, the Ram 2500 and the Ford F-250 are super comfortable, both offering optional 8-way directionally controlled seating for front passengers.
