Ram 1500 vs Nissan TITAN

Ram 1500

Hardworking truckers in Franklin, Greenwood, and New Whiteland are always on the lookout for a stronger, more versatile pickup that'll make it easier to get the job done. That may be why you're considering both the Ram 1500 and the Nissan TITAN.

To help you decide which model is the right fit for your next jobsite, our team at Fletcher Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram has created this comparison. It's the 2021 Ram 1500 vs. Nissan TITAN—let's see who comes out on top in the sections below!

Ram 1500 vs Nissan TITAN: Power and MPG

Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 gives you five different engine configurations, so you can decide how much power you'll need for the job that lies ahead. The Nissan TITAN, however, only offers one engine option. This sole engine comes in the form of a 5.6L V8 that generates 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque.

While impressive, remember it’s TITAN’s only option. Choosing the 1500 widens your possibilities, enabling selection from engines such as the Supercharged 6.2L HEMI V8, netting an outstanding 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.

Moreover, Ram doesn’t just deliver excellent power, but it also delivers excellent power for longer, too. Ram’s standard 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine boasts an EPA-estimated 20 city and 25 highway MPG. Unfortunately, the standard 5.6L V8 engine of the Nissan TITAN only achieves an EPA-estimated 15 city and 21 highway MPG.

To help maximize both power and MPG, there's the available eTorque Mild Hybrid System. You'll only find it on the Ram 1500. It replaces the traditional alternator with a 48-volt battery-powered electric motor. It also integrates variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation to optimize this truck's capability even further.

Ram 1500 vs Nissan TITAN: Towing Your Haul

Ram 1500 towing capacityIf you're in need of pure pulling power, the Ram 1500 is the truck for you. It boasts a maximum towing capacity of 12,750 pounds. The Nissan TITAN can only manage towing up to 9,310 pounds.

It'll be easier to hook up your trailer with the Ram 1500, too. Its available Active-Level™ Four Corner Air Suspension comes with Auto-load leveling. Plus, it can even automatically lower the Ram 1500 at highway speeds to increase aerodynamics. The TITAN can't say the same.

Speaking of towing, the 2021 Ram 1500 offers a suite of smart towing technologies for a boost of confidence on the roadways, including:

Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer Detection: This standard feature scans the blind spot zones behind your vehicle and trailer and can alert you if something is observed hiding there.

Electronic Stability Control: By retaining control of the brakes and engine power of your truck, this standard feature enables you to regain directional control when towing.

While the TITAN does similar features—such as standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)—none of them mention any benefits towards towing safety.

Ram 1500 vs Nissan TITAN: Payload & Storage Options

Ram 1500

The Ram 1500 is also more suited for gear that doesn't require a trailer. It has a maximum payload capacity of 2,300 pounds. The Nissan TITAN can only carry 1,690 pounds. Plus, the multifunction tailgate is only available on the Ram 1500. It features 60/40 split swing-away doors that will make loading up and clearing out the bed a breeze.

Plus, if you need even more storage space, you can always add the RamBox® Cargo Management System. This Ram exclusive storage component features storage bins on each side of the truck bed, which are weatherproof, lockable, illuminated, and drainable. They even come with a 115-volt auxiliary outlet for on-the-go power.

Since the RamBox® Cargo Management System is exclusive to Ram vehicles, you won’t find it on any Nissan TITAN trim levels.

Ram 1500 vs Nissan TITAN: Interior Comfort and Convenience

2021 Ram 1500 interior comfortWhen you step inside either the Ram 1500 or the Nissan TITAN, you'll be welcomed by amenities that can both get you ready to work or help you wind down. They both offer available leather-trimmed seats. Plus, the available heated and ventilated front seats will make the interior of your truck an oasis in any season.

If you're bringing the whole crew to the jobsite, both models offer an available Crew Cab configuration. The folks in the back will have more room in the Ram 1500. It offers 45.2 inches of rear legroom, compared to just 38.5 inches in the rear of the Nissan TITAN.

Finally, there's the infotainment system. While both trucks offer Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration, you'll be able to see more in the Ram 1500. It offers an available 12-inch touchscreen display, while the touchscreen of the TITAN is maxed out at just nine inches.

Ram 1500 vs Nissan TTITAN: Premium Technology Systems

2021 Ram 1500 technology featuresThinking back to the sections prior, we’ve shown just how versatile the Ram 1500 is. With this much flexibility, you can take your pickup practically anywhere, like on a weekend road trip.

When you do take that road trip, don’t forget to pick the ultimate vacation playlist–-which brings us to our next topic, audio. Your favorite tunes will sound crystal clear through Ram’s available Harman Kardon® Premium Audio System, complete with nineteen speakers and 900-watts of power.

While the 2021 Nissan TITAN also offers its own optional premium audio system, theirs only comes with twelve speakers.

Here’s something else cool about the Ram 1500. It features an available interior active noise cancellation system. Enjoy peace and quiet on the road conditions of 57.6 decibels adjusted. If you’re driving in the TITAN, you’ll have to adjust to the noise because this truck doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
